Water is important for all sorts of functions in our bodies, such as temperature regulation, circulatory function, metabolism and more. Common symptoms of dehydration are dry mouth ongue, thirst, headache, and lethargy.
Being active or an athlete leads to even more of an importance of fluid intake. Did you know that your fluid intake should be individualized as well. Understanding your fluid and sodium loss, taking into account your environment and sport is essential for proper hydration.
Studies have shown that a personalized hydration plan when compared to a persons regular thought of proper intake, the personalized plan has resulted in higher performance and faster recovery over those who followed what they thought to be ‘normal’. This was evident especially in longer exercises.
